We are so sorry to hear of John's passing. Not only was he our piano tuner, but he was an incredible friend and colleague. We will miss his wonderful sense of humor, his great stories, and his gorgeous singing voice! He was always kind to accept French-press coffee and chocolate chip cookies as payment to tune our piano! The entire Quad Cities musical community will miss him dearly, and we extend our heartfelt sympathies, thoughts, and prayers to John's family.

My wife and I are very sad to hear of John's demise. He was for piano tuner as well as a great friend. When we moved to Kirksville Missouri in 1993 he delivered our piano from Davenport Iowa. Years later he came from Bettendorf to visit and to service our piano. We had a great visit and fished our lake together. He also taught me how to work on our piano. As requested, we will make a donation to our local animal center.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences. John was a supportive friend to so many over the years. My association with John included years of singing and music through high school and college, with recent contact more seldom. I will fondly remember John as a talented friend, always one to volunteer or step up to the task at hand when needed. Laughter was always a secondary requirement. I know first hand how much John loved and respected his parents and family. Blessings to you who remain here to mourn him.

I met John several years ago through our mutual love of racing HO scale slot cars. He was the most generous, supportive and humble person that I've ever had the privilege of calling a friend. In the slot car world, he was known as "Zipp" because he could build fast cars and make them zip around the track. I had the honor of racing his "Zippmobiles" several times over the years and even won the 2011 HOPRA national championship in the Pro Super Stock class with one of his cars. The annual slot racing events he hosted, known as the Outhouse Invitationals, were epic fun for all those lucky enough to attend. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. He is missed greatly.

So very sorry for your loss. I met John as a kid growing up spending my free time at Kimberly Pines roller rink. As time went by and I eventually got a job there and joined the skate club etc. John became not only a friend but also a bit of a mentor. He was a great and talented man with a huge heart and love for life. He will be sorely missed.

I am so so sorry to hear this news. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. John was our piano tuner at Knox College while I was department chair, and we became friends. I loved talking with John, about pianos, about music, about our cats, and so many other things. I will never forget his wit, his big laugh and his warm smile that could light up a room.

Although I did not know John that well in recent years we went to high school together and I was an acquaintance of his in later years through the local music community. What a talent he possessed! My sympathies go to his family and close friends.
