Mabel M. Dreese, 91, of Davenport, died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, March 19, 2012 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home.  An Order of the Eastern Star service will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Sunday following the visitation.  Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in LeClaire, Iowa.  Memorials may be made to the Kahl Home for the Aged or to the Silver Creek Order of the Eastern Star.

Mabel was born May 6, 1920 in LeClaire, the daughter of James E. & Grace Esther (McCauley) Roberts.  She was united in marriage to Edward P. Dreese in 1943 in LeClaire.  He preceded her in death on March 5, 1992.

Mabel had been retired as the head pastry chef at the Davenport Country Club for thirteen years.  She was a longtime member of the Silver Creek Order of the Eastern Star.  Her love of baking and quilt making was surpassed only by her love for her family.  She made friends wherever she went and will be missed.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Deborah Sullivan of Bettendorf, Linda (Michael) Fleming of Modesto, California, Penny (Lynn) Lublin of Spokane, Washington and Joyce Brown of Princeton, Iowa; her sons, Gary Dreese of Clinton, Iowa and Randy Dreese of Fulton, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Edward, Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; and two brothers.

Deb & Siblings-
I am so sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. She was a wonderful woman, & it is an honor that I got to get to know her while she lived at Jersey Ridge. (I especially miss her "I Love You's!") Please know also that Beulah, Mary P., & Rovene send their love to you all.

Dear Deb,and all family members of Mables. I had the great pleasure of getting to know your Mother, Aunt, Sister, at the last years of her life and I would like you all to know she was a real pleasure. I work at Jersey Ridge Place. I loved her stories of being a pastry chef, and how she loved to cook. I would once and a while her say in the dinning room this is not the way it should be cooked.
I knew she would of made a great feast when she put on a meal.
I would just like to say Gods Blessings to all of you, and may he comfort you through this time of sorrow.
Sincerely Sharon Droste
