           Jerene Lee Voelkers, 67, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

            A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:30 P.M. Monday, December 19, 2011 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  The family will greet friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

            She was born in Davenport, Iowa on January 1, 1944, the daughter of George & Vivian Marie (Stanley) Stevens.  On January 18, 1964, she was united in marriage to Jerry L. Voelkers in Davenport.

            Jerene was a devoted wife, mom & grandma who in earlier years, worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant with Genesis Medical Center and the Visiting Nurses Association.

            She loved to play cards, enjoyed internet games and was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

            Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Jerry; her sons, Jerry Lee (Bonnie) Voelkers of Bettendorf, Terry (Cathy) Voelkers of Davenport and David (Katrina) Voelkers of East Moline, Illinois; her beloved grandchildren, Kyle, Breanna, Brandon, Bradley & Alivia; her sisters, Darlene and Sharon; her brothers, Gary and Curtis; and her very special friends, Gina & Ed Groenbeck of Davenport.

            Her parents preceded her in death.

I am so sorry to hear about the lost of your mom know she had been sick for awhile and the only thing I can really do is to offer you my deepest thoughts and prayers. May you find comfort in each others arms and with God. Jerry and Bonnie my thoughts are with you all at this time. Know that you are loved.

Jerry, Jerry lee, Terry and David and all your Family: Would like to say how Sorry I am for your loss, She was an awesome woman,always knew how to make you feel right at home no matter what the situation was!!!! We were family once and have so many WONDERFUL Memories of our times together!!! We always had so much fun when we were all together!!! Lot of Good times and lots of Memories!!!! My Love and Prayers are with you all right now and in days to come. We would Love to have sent Flowers but we didn''t find out till today about Jerene passing and it would have been to late.Sorry Love You All, Suzie Q
