Thomas F. Hildebrand, 58, of St. Cloud, Minnesota, formerly of Davenport, passed away at his residence on Thursday, June 13, 2019.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 27th at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Inurnment will be at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
Thomas was born on July 31, 1960 in Davenport, the son of Raymond and Ethel (Criswell) Hildebrand. He served in the U.S. Air Force, where he earned his Associate degree in business management while stationed in Germany. Following his six years in the Air Force, he then served in the National Guard. Thomas worked as the lead man on the engine assembly line at McDonald-Douglas in Los Angeles, California. He later worked at various places including the Salvation Army, the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery as part of the grounds crew, and most recently in the warehouse at Proctor & Gamble in Iowa City, Iowa.
He enjoyed fishing and had a great passion for cycling. He was an avid RAGBRAI participant, and also participated in the Quad City Criterium (Rock Island) with his childhood friends from school. In his younger years, he ran the Bix. Most importantly, Thomas enjoyed spending time outdoors with his nephews.
Those left to honor Thomas’ memory are his sister, Nancy (Gary) Scott of Silvis, Illinois; brother, Ed Hildebrand of Davenport; nieces and nephews, Ian (Emily) Scott, Jonas Scott, Colin Scott, Candace (Jeremy) Hunt; and great-nieces and nephews, Ellie, Owen, Annie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David.
