Memorial services for Craig D. Beitz will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, February 11, 2022, at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Entombment for Craig and his late, wife Donna will follow at the Rock Island National Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the entombment at the Jersey Grill, 5255 Jersey Ridge Rd. in Davenport, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Genesis Hospice. Mr. Beitz died on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at his home.
He was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on December 21, 1942, the son of Harvey Dale and Edythe Belle (Stone) Beitz. He graduated from Marion (Iowa) High School and attended Upper Iowa University, the University of Iowa, and Scott Community College.
On January 29, 1966, he was united in marriage to Donna K. McGavish in Marion. She preceded him in death on April 2, 2018.
During the Vietnam Conflict, he served in the U.S. Army in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1967.
Craig worked as a route salesman for most of his working life, retiring from the Automotive Paint & Equipment Company of Rock Island.
In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, watching Iowa Hawkeye sports, model trains and was a history buff as well.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Angela Brownson of Davenport, Amy (Kraig) Hartz of LeClaire, Iowa and Sarah (Evan) Keibler of Seattle, Washington; his grandchildren, Megan (Tyler) Willsher, Emma Hartz, Ethan Brownson, Maya Hartz, Max Hartz, Walter Keibler, Wesley Keibler and Elaina Keibler; and his special friend, Diane Connors of Bettendorf.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Connie Alatalo; and his parents.
