James K. Kipper Jr.

James K. Kipper Jr., 61, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa died on Friday, June 9, 2006 at his home following a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in Jack’s Cemetery, LeClaire. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Pheasants Forever.
He was born July 6, 1944 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of James K. & Geraldine V. (Conn) Kipper Sr. On March 20, 1965, he was united in marriage to Cheryl K. Dunscombe in Stratford, Iowa.
Jim was employed at the Oscar Mayer Company of Davenport, retiring in 1998 after 31 years of service. Following retirement, he worked part-time at the Great River Bank & Trust of LeClaire for 5 years.
He was an accomplished cook, enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, the Chicago Bears among other sports and smoking meat for his family & friends. Above all else, his beloved grandchildren were the joy of his life and he treasured every minute he spent with them.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Cheryl; his daughters, Jama (Rick) Miller of Sherrard, Illinois and Jana (Jeff) Nichols of Milan, Illinois; his son, Jim (Jeni) Kipper III of LeClaire; his grandchildren, Cami, Zach, Taylor, Chase, Colton, Caden, Coy, Keely & Brandon; his mother, Jerry Kipper of Ponce de Leon, Missouri; his sisters, Carol Scharff of LeClaire, Gayle Hansen of Gibson City, Illinois, Pat Fisher and Kathy Gimm, both of LeClaire; his brothers, Dick Kipper in Massachusetts, Kurt Kipper of Arnold, Missouri, Bill Kipper of Highlandville, Missouri and Von Mark Kipper in Arizona; and his special nephew, Peter Kipper.
Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Jan Kipper; his father, Jim Kipper Sr.; his grandfather, Peter Kipper; his grandmother, Hattie Cornish; and his father-in-law, George Dunscombe.
