Lynn Clarke

October 22, 1953 — March 23, 2023

Lynn Marie Clarke (Wooden, Mess) went peacefully to be with the Lord on March 23, 2023 after a short battle with cancer in Muscatine, Iowa, surrounded by her daughters.

Lynn was born in Red Oak, Iowa on October 22, 1953 to Lawrence James Clarke of Lost Springs, Kansas and Marjorie Clarke (Hughes) from Warrington, England.  Growing up as an “army brat” she lived all over the United States as a child, finally settling in Oklahoma.  As a teenager she enjoyed singing in the school choir and at competitions.  She had several careers throughout her life including 911 dispatcher, bookkeeping and web design.

Lynn loved growing vegetables in her garden and making floral arrangements.  She spent most Saturdays playing games with her family, cooking out and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her three siblings; Lorraine Marshall, Sylvia Wilson and Kenneth Clarke, three daughters and their spouses; Tracy and Roger Young of Corinth, Texas, Sally and August Schober of Commerce, Texas and Rachel and Bruce Wheeler of Bettendorf, Iowa; three step-sons, William, Michael and Steven Mess; six grandchildren, Jarrad Gilleland, Casey Young, Amber Fisk, Andrew Fisk, Joshua Young and Joseph Wheeler; and one great-grandchild, Jensen Gilleland.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday March 25, 2023 at Glendale Cemetery in LeClaire, Iowa.  A celebration of life will follow at Van’s Pizza and More, 3333 North Harrison Street in Davenport, Iowa.

The family would like to thank Unity Point Hospice for all their care and support of our loved one in her final days, they were a true blessing.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Samaritan’s Purse, a charity that was dear to Lynn’s heart. (www.samaritanspurse.org)
