Anna K. Lay

Anna Kathryn Lay, 69, a resident of Aspenwood Health Care Center, Silvis, Illinois and formerly of Davenport, Iowa died Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at Illini Hospital, Silvis.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, June 28, 2004 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation.
She was born June 29, 1934 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Donald & Eleanor (Harris) Wightman. On April 17, 1953, she married Jack A. Lay in Cedar Rapids. Jack preceded her in death on June 15, 1997.
Anna was employed as a clerk in the maintenance department of the former Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Davenport, retiring in 1994.
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the “21” Club. In her leisure time, she enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter & son-in-law, Kathryn L. & Doug Kelley of Davenport; her sons & daughters-in-law, Timothy & Paula Lay of Monmouth, Illinois and James & Liz Lay of Davenport; her grandchildren, Christine & Andrew Lay, Brian Larson, Mary Beth Giddings and Dustin Larson; 7 “grand-dogs”, and her sisters, Michelle Davis of Waterloo, Iowa and Marcia Jacobs of Coral Springs, Florida.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and her beloved dog, Josie.
