Arlene J. Hampton, 82, a former resident of Pleasant Valley, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Senior Star at Elmore Place, where she had made her home in recent years.
At the family’s request, no services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
Arlene was born in Davenport, Iowa on January 18, 1943, the daughter of Samuel and Floy Fox and was a graduate of Rock Island High School. On September 3, 1961, she married the love of her life, Tom Hampton, in Rock Island—a partnership that spanned 64 wonderful years. Their devotion to one another was evident to all who knew them.
For over two decades, Arlene served as the office manager of the family business, Hampton Crane in Bettendorf, where her steady presence and warm personality were an important part of its success.
Arlene and Tom shared a deep love of travel and adventure. Whether exploring the country in their travel trailers, Airstreams, and RVs or spending winters in the Florida Keys, Arlene embraced each journey with joy. She especially cherished the sunshine, kayaking, and the dear friends they made along the way. Together, they visited every state in the U.S., including Alaska and Hawaii—memories that will forever live in the hearts of her family.
Those left to honor her memory include her devoted husband, Tom; her sons, Steve (Lisa) Hampton of Port Byron, Illinois, and Scott (Teresa) Hampton of Davenport; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many beloved friends whose lives were enriched by her kindness.
Arlene was preceded in death by her brother.
She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her adventurous heart, and the deep love she held for her family.
