Graveside services for Barbara Dowell, 81, of Davenport, will be held at a later date at Fairmount Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Davenport.

McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home is assisting family with arrangements.

Barbara passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at her home in Davenport.

Barbara Schmidt was born on September 27, 1939 in Davenport, the daughter of Edwin and Neola (Dooley) Schmidt. She married Charles “Dick” Dowell on December 3,1955 in Davenport. He preceded her in death on June 30, 1984. She worked at Wonder Bread for 38 years, retiring in 2000.

Survivors include her daughter; Tracy (David) Rowland of Davenport, sons; Russell (Becky) Dowell of Davenport, Tom (Kandice) Dowell of Davenport, 15 grandchildren including Charlie, John, Cora, Kelly, Tommy, Becky, Nicole, Brittany, Brooke, 40 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and brothers; Ronnie Schmidt of Knoxville, Iowa and Robert Schmidt of Eldridge, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by parents, husband and son; Chuck Dowell in March of 1973.
