Barbara J. Madden

Barbara Jean Madden, 89, of Park View, Iowa, passed away Friday, August 8, 2025 at Ridgecrest Village, Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16th at Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge Iowa. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Private family burial will be held at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Genesis Hospice.

Barb was born on August 2, 1936 in rural Monticello, Missouri, the daughter of John Aton Campen and Deddelana Anna (Hulsebus) Campen. She met the love of her life, John Joseph Madden, while working at WABCO in Peoria, Illinois. They married on December 31, 1966, and moved to Parkview, Iowa in 1969. After their children were raised, Barb worked in the greenhouse at Lowes and later at the Skate Park in Eldridge. Barb was an avid gardener and was a proud member of The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Master Gardener Program. She had a passion and appreciation for all of nature’s beautiful flowers and plants.

Those left to honor her memory are her children, Steve (Sherrie) Madden of Park View and Audra Hartwigsen of Ames, Iowa; her grandchildren, Maia and Lazuli Hartwigsen, Katie Laughlin, DJ (Sara) Laughlin, and Kerry (Blake) Lederer; her great-granddaughter, Kiera Laughlin; and her sister, Evelyn (James) Nelson of Jackson, Missouri.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John; and her brother, Kenneth (Hilda) Campen.
