Barbara I. McCullough

Barbara Irene (Minogue) McCullough of Bettendorf, Iowa, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 8, 2025.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 14th at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. A private burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport.

Barb was born on April 13, 1938 in Rockford, Illinois to Evelyn F. and John A. Minogue. She retired from the City of Davenport where she worked as a senior accounting clerk and proudly served as union steward for AFSCME Local 887. Barb was known for being smart, tough, ornery, and tenacious. She was a true force of nature who stood up for what she believed in.

Barb had a lifelong love of gardening and delighted in teaching anyone that wanted to learn about plants. She was self-educated in many areas. Her creative mind saw purpose and value in almost everything. She also dedicated time to research and documentation of family genealogy, leaving behind a treasured legacy for future generations.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Linda Lowder of Bettendorf and Elizabeth (Michael) Dolph of Rock Island; her sister, Dorothy (Dennis) Denton of Princeton, Illinois; those that called her Granny – six grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, with more on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Steven Hasselman, who will be laid to rest with her; a great-grandson, Robert “Robby” L. Lowder IV; a sister, Nancy Burroughs; and a brother, Caroll Minogue.
