Bernadette "Bo" Chandler (Prieto), 72, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2026 while surrounded by over 35 members of her family, following a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
She was born on May 9th, 1953 in Moline, Illinois to John and Delores Prieto. Bo was blessed to be a part of a large, close-knit family as one of nine children- a bond that remained an important and cherished part of her life. She carried that same sense of connection into her own family, finding joy in togetherness and creating lasting memories with those that she loved most. Bo was a woman who found joy in creativity, music and socializing. She had a passion for working with stained glass, was a great dancer and loved singing. Her greatest happiness came from spending quality time with her family.
On February 23rd, 1980, she married the love of her life, Doran Chandler. Together they built a wonderful life centered around family and friends. Doran preceded her in death in 2015.
Bo is survived by her children, Sabrina Chandler (Dennis) of Bettendorf, Iowa; Melissa Jimenez (David) of Bettendorf; and Dustin Chandler (Chelsea) of Davenport, Iowa. She also leaves behind her stepchildren, Darren Chandler (Renae) of Buffalo, Iowa and Jade Chandler-Haag (Doug) of Bloomington, Illinois. She was a proud grandmother to 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, all of whom were a source of joy in her life. She is further survived by her siblings Tony Prieto, Rosemary Vittori (Wayne), Angela Garcia, John Prieto and Catherine Long (David), along with many extended family members and loved ones who will deeply miss her presence. She also leaves behind, her beloved and spoiled rotten companion, Ziggy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Doran and her siblings Dr. Vincent Prieto, Dr. Mary Louise Bayard and Dannette Simpson, her nephew, Matthew Prieto and her niece, Renae (Jesyca) Willis, whom she now joins in heaven.
Bo will be remembered for her warmth, vibrant spirit and the love that she gave so freely to those around her.
