Carol Jean Allen was born on April 1, 1955, in Maquoketa, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Darleen (Neuman) Allen. She grew up in Monmouth Iowa and graduated from Midland Community School in 1973. She married Courtney P. Hunt on August 14, 1982, in Pleasant Valley, IA. He preceded her in death on February 7, 2015. After reconnecting with Samuel Guzzo at a school reunion later in 2015 they became inseparable and fell in love. They were married at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church on April 3, 2021.

Carol attended Stewart School of Hairstyling in 1974, she worked as  Cosmetologist/hairstylist for over 10 years. Carol worked as an Educational Aide for the Pleasant Valley School District for 14 years, retiring in 2014 to take of her husband at home. During her time as a Teacher’s Aide at Pleasant Valley Schools, and after wards, she took care of Ryan Bubbers. She took pride and was honored to have a special bond with Ryan, a severely handicapped boy.  Carol’s greatest love and joy in life was her family. She proudly loved being a Wife, Mom, Grammie and a “farm kid.” She grew up on a farm and loved animals, especially her family dog, “Lady” and Holstein cows. She and Sam loved to travel. Two places on her bucket list she checked off were going to Omaha Beach in Normandy, France and  visiting the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor Hawaii. She also enjoyed singing and listening to music, she had quite an extensive musical library of lyrics and artist that she could easily recall.  She also enjoyed drinking her morning coffee, reading the morning newspaper, and having a good time at gatherings with family and friends. She was a great friend to many by keeping in touch with them throughout the years.
