Funeral services for Carole A. Hahn, 63, of E. Moline,IL, will be 4:00 pm on Sunday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Private family burial will take place on Monday at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt, IA. Family will greet friends on Sunday from 3:00 pm to service time at the funeral home.

Carole passed away on Thursday, August 15,2024, at Genesis Medical Center – East Campus, Davenport. 

Carole Alice Hoffman was born on November 9, 1960, in Davenport, the daughter of Harold and Mary (Hahn) Hoffman. She graduated third in her class from Bettendorf High School in 1979. She then attended Iowa State, where she graduated with two bachelor of science degrees in Dietetics and Community Nutrition in 1984 and played saxophone in the marching band. She worked as a Registered Dietician for over 40 years, including 20 years working for WIC (women, infant, children) and a Lactation Consultant for 15 years, including the last 5 years at Trinity in the Quad Cities. Despite a difficult 8-year battle with Stage IV Breast Cancer, Carole continued to touch the lives of numerous new mothers and infants, until her illness forced her to stop working in May of 2024. She was a passionate advocate for breastfeeding.

Carole was an athlete, earning her varsity level in 3 sports at Bettendorf High School. Her senior year basketball team placed second in state. She started her varsity softball team at 3rd base as a freshman and was on the varsity golf team. Later, she coached her sons’ basketball and baseball teams. 

Carole enjoyed the outdoors, long walks, golfing, music, reading, and giving presents. Her most cherished things in her life were her faith, her 3 boys, and her two years as a grandma.

Survivors include her sons, Alan (Nastasya Tay) Boswell who lives overseas, John (Dana) Boswell of Big Rock, IL, Mark Boswell of Moline, IL, two grandchildren, Blair Boswell, Kai Tay-Boswell, and more on the way. She is also survived by her sisters, Marge (Garry) Heinze of Morton, IL, Eloise (Pat) Hoffman of West Milford, NJ, Marianne (Craig) Hute of Ridgway, CO, brother, Marc (Cecelia) Hoffman of Willis, TX, Jeff Dean of Silvis, IL, Philip (Phyllis) Hoffman of Bettendorf, IA, and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John (late Merrianne) Hoffman.
