Christine M. Abbott, 74 of Davenport, Iowa passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4th at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa. Following visitation, cremation rites will be accorded, and inurnment will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family. The family is inviting loved ones to a gathering at New Life Baptist Church located at 7780 W. Locust St., Davenport, Iowa 52804 at 5:00 p.m. for dinner and the remembrance of her life.

Christine was born on June 26, 1952, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Doris and Irene (Smith) Howard. She married Duane J. Abbott on November 27, 1971, in Rock Island, Illinois. They celebrated 54 years of marriage prior to Duane’s passing in 2023. Chris enjoyed playing cards and Bingo. Duane and Chris enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and Days of Our Lives during their time together. She was not only a devoted mother to her six children, but she was also a mother figure and helped raise so many other children. She was very loved by many and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Those left to honor her memory are her daughters, Hope (Dan) Scarsella, Jody (Steve) Wollett, Doris Abbott, Brenda (Dani) Lucas, Tami Lynn (Gary) Michaud; 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Duane Abbott II; son-in-law, Steve Wollett; siblings, Kathy, Essie, Bonnie, Joe; and several good friends.
