Christine Edwards Murcia, 56, of Davenport, Iowa passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at her home.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Foundation 2 Crisis Services at foundation2.org.
She was born in Davenport, the daughter of William and Bernardine (Dahms) Edwards. Christine graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1985 and later graduated from St. Ambrose University where she earned her bachelor's degree in English education and her master’s degree in criminal justice.
Christine worked as a social worker/supervisor for Foundation 2 Crisis Services. She thoroughly loved her work and made a difference in many people’s lives during her career. In earlier years, she taught school at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Davenport, Davenport Central High School and Benson High School in Omaha, Nebraska.
Christine was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Dallas Cowboys. She loved all types of music, art and literature. Everyone who met her knew how genuine, brilliant and funny she was in every moment. She loved her daughters more than anything in the world.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Maya Christine Murcia of Brooklyn, New York, Katherine Clare Murcia of Davenport, and Pamela Elizabeth “Lizzie” Murcia of Davenport; her mother & stepfather, Bernardine and Gene Bingham of Davenport; her brother, Richard Edwards of Davenport; her sister, Kristie Edwards in Arkansas; and two uncles, Robert Dahms of Davenport and Edwin Dahms in California.
Christine was preceded in death by her father, William Edwards.
