Obituary

Claudette Iva (Olson) Wiedner, 89, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa with her daughters by her side.

Claudette was born on October 19, 1936 in Iowa City, Iowa to Louis Martin Olson and Martha (Hodgett) Olson, both of whom preceded her in death.

On November 3, 1956 Claudette married the love of her life, Raymond Louis Wiedner Jr. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Together they built a life centered around family, faith and community.

Claudette worked for several years as an Activities Director at the Collins House in Davenport before retiring. She had a natural gift for bringing people together.

She was an active member of many organizations and clubs, including the Masonic Eastern Star, the Mississippi Quilters Guild, the Daughters of Mohassan, the German American Heritage Society and St. Mark Lutheran Church.

Claudette found enjoyment in the simple and beautiful things in life. She loved genealogy, quilting, gardening, sewing, traveling, crafting, decorating for every holiday and spending time with her family. Above all else, she treasured the moments shared with those she loved.

Claudette is survived by her daughters, Susan McGill of Bettendorf, Iowa; Barbra (Andrew) O'Boyle of Somers, Connecticut; and Laura (Joseph Smith) Wiedner-Smith of Spring Hill, Kansas.

She was a proud and loving grandmother to Sean (Whitney) McGill of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Ryan McGill of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Caitlyn (Kevin) Kolosky of Stafford Springs, Connecticut; Delaney O'Boyle of Tolland, Connecticut; Madison (Hunter) Offutt of Belton, Missouri; Mikayla (Paul) Kueck of Kansas City, Kansas; and Mallory Smith of Lenexa, Kansas, who is engaged to Noah Verbraken.

She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Ruby McGill and an expected baby boy Kueck.

In addition to her parents and husband, Claudette was preceded in death by her brothers, Ernest Olson and Robert Olson.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.

Remembrances of Claudette can be made through contributions to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House for the excellent care she received and to Vander Veer Botanical Park in Davenport.

Claudette will be remembered for her creativity, strong devotion to family, and the warmth she brought into the lives of those who knew her. Her legacy of love, traditions, and family will continue through the many lives she touched.
