Curtis R. Evans Sr., 85, of Davenport passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Noon on Thursday, May 29th at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Curtis was born on June 5, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of George and Evalina (Moon) Evans. On August 29, 1975, he married Sharon K. Reeves at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline. Curtis worked as a machinist and fork lift driver at International Harvester, later Navistar in Springfield, Ohio. He retired in 1992 after 30 years of service. He later worked as a delivery driver for Florist Distributing for 15 years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Davenport, and was a proud member of the UAW. Curtis enjoyed fishing, and most importantly spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and being the family jokester.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Sharon Evans; his children, Marty Weaver, Kathy Yaudas, Annette (Bones Matkovich) Hamilton, Julie Parks, Lynne (Jon) Sawyer, Angie (Brian) Mills, and Curt (Sara) Evans Jr.; his very special granddaughter and honorary daughter, Shalana Evans; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Melody Evans; a son-in-law, Michael Yaudas; and his half-brother, Michael Lind.
