David Crews

David W. Crews, 59, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 13, 2023 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf, Iowa.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to benefit David’s daughter, Megan to assist in furthering her education.

David was born October 18, 1963 in Newport News, Virginia, the son of David & Vivian (Hobby) Crews.  He was united in marriage to Lynne M. Hartz on July 12, 1986 in Davenport.

David was employed with the Jewell Group in Davenport for over 20 years.  He was an avid fan of NASCAR, flat track motor racing, Harley-Davidsons and Duke’s Mayonnaise.  He also cheered on the Washington Redskins, the Virginia Cavaliers and the Virginia Tech Hokies.

David was proud of his extensive military service with the United States Army and he will be remembered as a loving husband and father.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Lynne; his daughter, Megan; his sister, Catherine (Earl) Crews-Hearp; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Terry and Kathryn Hartz of St. Louis, Missouri and Duane & Sandra Hartz of Bettendorf; and his niece and nephew, Rachel Sutton and Matthew Hartz.

David was preceded in death by his parents.
