David was born on March 16, 1953, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Paul Edward and Edna Kathrine (Claussen) Mooney Sr. He grew up in the Quad-Cities and was a proud graduate of Bettendorf High School.
Throughout his working life, David was known for his strong work ethic and reliability. He spent many years employed with Montgomery Escalator and later continued working in various area auto service centers, combining his skills with his lifelong interest in cars.
