Diane L. Ring

February 12, 1948 — October 3, 2025

Bettendorf

Diane L. Ring, 77, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 3, 2025, at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Asbury United Methodist Church in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, October 13, 2025, at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Diane will be laid to rest at the Manly Cemetery in Manly, Iowa. Memorials may be made to her daughter, Amanda.

Born on February 12, 1948, in Mason City, Iowa, Diane was the daughter of Morris and Gwendolyn (Murphy) Joines. She was married from 1974 to 1982, and from this union, her greatest joy—her daughter, Amanda—was born.

Diane worked in the medical field for nearly 30 years until retiring in 1994 due to complications with Myasthenia Gravis. Over the course of her career, she served in pathology, as secretary to the Medical Examiner, and as a certified medical transcriptionist. For 19 years, she was a devoted and trusted employee of Dr. J. Gilson in Davenport, Iowa.

A woman of remarkable strength, compassion, and generosity, Diane devoted her life to caring for others. She lovingly cared for her mother, spending time with her until her passing in 2003. She also volunteered tirelessly for many causes close to her heart, including Race for the Cure, Quad-City Harvest, the Multiple Sclerosis Walk, blood drives at her church, the Rachel Circle at Asbury, and the Impact Life Blood Center. Whether through organized efforts or by simply lending a helping hand to a friend, Diane’s giving spirit touched countless lives. She loved generously with her whole heart.

Diane was a faithful member of Asbury United Methodist Church and the Rachel Circle, and proudly a 38-year, third-generation member of the Eastern Star of Heather Hill Chapter #493 in northern Iowa.

She had a creative heart and a joyful spirit—she loved crafts and cross-stitching, dancing, and all kinds of music. Diane especially cherished the time she spent with her many friends and with her daughter, Amanda. Her home was always open to Amanda’s friends, and she took great pride in watching them grow into the exceptional adults they’ve become and being involved as their own children grew.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Amanda Ring of Bettendorf; her brother, Donald (Beverly) Joines; and her nieces, Kellie Hadzic, Kimberly (Chris) Wise, Amy Earle, Brandy (John) Clogg, Laney White and her nephew, Aaron White. She also leaves behind cherished cousins, LaVonne (Bruce) Kaasa, Janice Marshall and extended family. Diane was surrounded by close friends in life, including those nearest to her heart, Sandra McIntyre, Kay Parch, Charlotte Ring, Pam (Ring) Fauble, Audrey Lazarra Dollins and her childhood friend, Susan Aves.

She was preceded in death by her father, Morris, in 1978, her mother, Gwendolyn, in 2003 and her great-niece, Melissa Joines in 2017.
