Dorothy A. Cole, 94, a resident of Princeton, Iowa, died on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Jersey Ridge Place in Davenport, Iowa.

A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf, Iowa.  Contributions in her memory may be made to Heartland Hospice.

She was born in Marne, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Edith (Kroymann) Greve and was a 1947 graduate of Clinton High School.

On June 2, 1950, Dorothy married William E. Cole in Davenport, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on March 21, 2007.

Dorothy retired after 52 years of faithful service at the Great River Bank & Trust (formerly the Farmers Savings Bank) of Princeton.  She started out as a teller and through her hard work and dedication, she was eventually named vice-president.  Glen H. Suiter, the late chairman of the bank was quoted as saying, “She was with me at my elbow for many years.  Dorothy was the most dependable, loyal, dedicated employee I’ve ever known.”

Dorothy and her husband loved living on the river and spent many enjoyable hours boating, traveling in their RV and participating in a multitude of community activities over the years.  She also enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino with her friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Brenda (Tom) Rogers of Princeton; her granddaughters, Beth (John) Brooks and Leah (Eric) Johannes; her great-grandchildren, Anna Brooks, Emme Brooks, Mary Kate Johannes, Stella Johannes and Otto Johannes; her brother, Franklin (Pat) Greve of Camanche; and a very special niece, Denise (Ben Taylor) Brown of LeClaire.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Chapman.

Dorothy's family would like to express special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Jersey Ridge Place and Heartland Hospice for all of their thoughtful care for Dorothy.
