Douglas R. “Doug” Chapman, 64, of Davenport passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12th at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Following the visitation, the family invites friends to join them for food and sharing of memories at Duey's Corner Tap, 102 N Main St, Port Byron, Illinois. Per Doug's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
Doug was born on July 26, 1961 in Davenport, the son of Russell and Eleanor (Butts) Chapman. Following his graduation from Davenport Central High School in 1979, he joined the U.S. Army where he served for 4 years. On June 4, 1982, he married Teresa L. Meier in Davenport. Doug worked as a maintenance supervisor at Novelis Aluminum (formerly Nichols Aluminum) for 30 years.
Doug loved being outdoors, whether he was fishing, camping or boating. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Wisconsin, fishing in Minnesota with his son, and traveling. Doug was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, St. Louis Cardinals, and NASCAR.
Those left to honor his memory are his mother, Eleanor Chapman of Davenport; his companion of 20 years, Julie Adams of Davenport; children, Ashley (Robert) Kern of Davenport and Travis Chapman of Davenport; grandchildren, Emmalynn and Cullen Kern; step-daughters, Taylor (Dustin Burnaugh) Adams of Macomb, Illinois and Jordan Adams of Davenport; sisters, Shirley Chapman of Davenport and Cheryl (Gary Baumgarten) of Davenport; nieces and nephews, Christopher Baumgarten, Josh Daily, Amanda Otto, and Sara Daily; and life-long friends, Chris Skibbe and Terry Harnden.
He was preceded in death by his father, Russell; and his wife, Teresa in 2002.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the University of Iowa Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion.
