Obituary

Douglas W. Ryan, 80, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a brief illness.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Doug on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Davenport Country Club. A brief prayer service will begin at 4:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Scott County Humane Society or the First Tee Program. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.

Doug was born on October 19, 1945, in Denver, Colorado, the son of Gale and Elizabeth (Warner) Ryan. He graduated from Marengo High School in Marengo, Illinois, and later graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. He remained life-long friends with his childhood classmates from Marengo and still got together each year for golf and poker.

On June 26, 1980, Doug married Veronica “Roni”, in Davenport. Together they shared many happy years and built a life centered on family, friendship, and the simple joys of everyday moments.

Professionally, Doug worked as a Certified Personnel Consultant with the Bryant Bureau of Davenport beginning in 1979. Through his work, he assisted many clients throughout the years and formed countless lasting friendships, always taking pride in helping others succeed.

Doug was a longtime member of the Davenport Country Club, where he enjoyed spending time on the golf course with friends. He also had a special fondness for his bright red Corvette, which he loved taking out for a drive whenever he could and was often accompanied by his beloved Golden Doodle, “Miss Riley Ryan.”

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Veronica; his daughter, Chaundra Fulrath of Bettendorf; his brother, Jerry Ryan of Ecuador, South America; his nephew, Brett Ryan of Roswell, Georgia; and his niece, Heather Poole of Senoia, Georgia. Doug was a really good man and will always be fondly remembered by those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
