Drusilla M. “Dru” Novak, 53, a resident of Walcott, Iowa passed into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport, Iowa.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at All Saints Lutheran Church, 5002 Jersey Ridge Rd. in Davenport where she was a member.  Burial will follow at the Rock Island National Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, March 13, 2023 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Memorials may be made to the family.

She was born in Davenport on October 1, 1969, the daughter of Robert and JoEllen (Dodds) Ford and was a 1988 graduate of Bettendorf High School and had obtained her CNA certification in health care.  On October 5, 2013, Dru was united in marriage to Michael A. Novak in Buffalo, Iowa.

She was employed as a Medical Support Assistant with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Iowa City.

Dru was a member and current state president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 9128 of Bettendorf.  In addition, she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 26 of Davenport and served as the VFW Big 10 soloist at many area events.

She had a great love of music, was an accomplished singer, enjoyed being an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, the San Francisco 49er’s and NASCAR’s infamous Jeff Gordon.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Mike; her sisters, Linda (Don) Sharar of Blue Grass, Iowa, Deborah Royse of Moline, Illinois, Donna Royse of Des Moines, Iowa, Kathy Mack of Charlotte, Iowa, Dorie Williams in California, Kari (Rick) Allen of Davenport and Deena (Dennis) Donnelly of St. Louis, Missouri; her brothers, Pat (Winnie) Ford of Colona, Illinois and Dennis (Crystal) Royse of Davenport; and many beloved nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

Dru was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Mike Ford; her brother-in-law, James Manning; her niece, Caralyn Manning and her nephews, Austin Manning and Adam Gardner.
