Edward E. Gittings

Private family graveside services for Edward Emmett Gittings, 85, of Davenport, will be at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Long Grove, IA.

Edward passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025, at MercyOne Genesis, East Campus, Davenport. He lived happily with love and support for 7 years at Harmoney on Utica Ridge.

Edward was born on July 10, 1940, in Lomax, IL, the son of Cecil and Mable (Brown) Gittings. He married Bonita J. “Bonnie” Egger on July 13, 1991, in Sedalia, MO. She preceded him in death on December 5, 2012. Edward worked as a carpenter for LowTemp in Rock Island for 30 years. He enjoyed Civil War re-enactments, raising pigeons and camping.

Survivors include his daughters, Karen (Dave) McCoy, Geri Gittings and Stephanie Hubbard, all of Davenport, son, Dwight (Missy) Gittings of Calamus, IA, step-son, Don (Betty) Jones of Eldridge, 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Jeri Gittings of Alexis, IL and brother, Perry Gittings of Davenport, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bonnie, step-daughter, Denise “Denna” Kaasa, sisters, Carol Sharp, Mable Jane Boone, Bonnie Scott, Nedra Mason, Estylen Johnson, brother, Robert Gittings.
