Enrique C. Diaz, 57, of Davenport, passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Faith Lutheran Church in Eldridge. A private burial will be held in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
Enrique was born October 19, 1960 in Zaragoza, Coahuila De Zaragoza, Mexico, a son of Alfanso Sr. & Enriqueta (Chavez) Diaz. He was a graduate of Rock Island High School and Augustana College, earning a degree in Arts & Business.
Enrique was united in marriage to Cathy L. Marten on September 16, 2005 in Eldridge.
He was employed as a Jewelry Supervisor at JCPenney in Davenport. Beyond his passion for jewelry, his interests included collecting coins, antiques, rocks and stones.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Cathy; his son, Alexander Diaz of Rock Island; his daughter, Alina Diaz of Moline; his step-children, Lucas Bell of Walcott, Lance (Ashlee) Bell of Long Grove and Lindsay (Eric) Jess of Ankeny; his grandchildren, Leslie, Logan, Lawson and Myra Bell; his siblings, Rosantina (Raul) Casso of Houston, Texas, Jose Diaz of Zaragoza, Mexico, Irma (Roberto) Diaz-Gonzalez of Houston, Alfanso (Rosa Maria) Diaz of Houston, Maria (Guadalupe) Gonzalez of Houston; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Cyndi (Don) Petersen of Ankeny, Lisa (Marc) McCubbin of Des Moines and Doug (Julie) Marten of Eldridge; his mother-in-law, Carol Marten of Eldridge; special cousins Fernando Chavez Sr., Marci, Fernando Chavez Jr., Daniel and Ana Cristina Chavez; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog, Max.
Enrique was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Olivia Diaz; and his father-in-law, Jerry Marten.
