Ester M. Payne

Ester M. Payne, 82, of Davenport passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her family.
   
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30th at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport.  Memorials may be directed to the family.
   
Ester was born on February 24, 1942 in Oxford, Mississippi, the daughter of Pippy Shorter and Dorothy Kelly.  She married Richard Payne on March 15, 1964 in Oxford.  Ester worked as a cook at various places, but most recently at the former Holiday Inn, Davenport.  She enjoyed listening to music, playing Bingo and loved tending to her flower gardens.
   
Those left to honor her memory are her children, Delores (Wendell) Prude, Allie Kelly, Veronica Payne, Joseph Kelly, and Ritchie Payne, all of Davenport; four grandchildren, Darrell Kelly, K’voscia Payne, Kíya Payne, and Kaleb Payne; three great-grandchildren, Kennell Kelly, Ketrell Kelly, and Kyngsten Payne; and a host of cousins.
   
She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, Will and Allie Kelly, her husband, and numerous aunts and uncles.
