Eula L. Gibbs, 86, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family—just the way she would have wanted it.
Born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on February 28, 1939, Eula was one of eleven children raised in a home filled with strong values, deep faith, and a whole lot of laughter. On September 13, 1958, she married her best friend and lifelong partner, Bud Gibbs. Their love story spanned nearly six decades—filled with devotion, perseverance, and the kind of everyday love that builds a beautiful life. Bud passed away in 2016, and not a day went by that Eula didn’t miss him.
Eula was a woman of grace, strength, and quiet determination. For more than 20 years, she owned and operated Eula’s Beauty Salon in Davenport. Her salon was much more than a place to have your hair done…it was a place where people came to feel cared for, heard, and seen. Her customers became friends, and her gentle spirit made everyone feel at home in her chair.
At heart, Eula was a creative soul. She loved working with ceramics, doing arts and crafts, and always had a word puzzle close by. But above all else, she loved her family. Her greatest joy was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She lit up at the mention of her grandchildren and rarely missed a chance to be there for their games, events, or simple everyday moments. She was their biggest fan and fiercest protector.
Those who will carry her love forward include her sons, Terry (Judy) Gibbs, Gary Gibbs, and Ronny (Karen) Gibbs, all of Davenport; her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sisters Dorothy, Margie, Claudia, Debbie, and Lora; her brothers Larry, George, and Richard; and many treasured nieces, nephews, and friends who became like family.
She is now reunited with her beloved Bud, her sister Opal, her brother Jerry, and so many others who’ve gone before her.
Eula’s family will be holding a private service at Davenport Memorial Park. If you wish to honor her memory, the family welcomes memorials to help them celebrate her life in a way that reflects the love she gave so freely.
Eula’s hands were always busy, her heart always full. She lived a life of quiet kindness, deep devotion, and simple joys—and those lucky enough to be loved by her will carry that love forever.
