Hazel L. Sturms

Hazel L. Sturms, 96, of Pleasant Valley, Iowa passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025 at Aspire of Pleasant Valley.

Per her wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Burial will be at Beulah Church Cemetery in rural Salisbury, Missouri.

Hazel was born on June 30, 1929 in DeVall’s Bluff, Arkansas, the daughter of Alfred and Sally (Dollar) Price. In 1972, she married Walter Sturms in Rock Island, Illinois. Hazel worked as a teacher’s aid at Washington Elementary School in Davenport.

Those left to honor her memory are her daughters, Betty Boyles, Carolyn Egnell, and Frankie Henderson; step-children, Dennis Sturms, Curtis Sturms, Craig Sturms, and Kathy Sturms Daniels; grandchildren, Jeffrey Pestka, Jason Pestka, Courtney Pestka-Kraklio, Rich Kocher, as well as other grandchildren and great-grandchildren ; and siblings, Dee Spiess, LaVerne Gregg, and Opal Price.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; daughter, Janette Pestka; son, Reedy Allen; grandson, John Alfredson; and siblings, Richard Price and Annalynn Jackson.
