Howard L. Wendt, 87, a former resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Aspire Nursing Home in Pleasant Valley, Iowa.
Private burial took place at Davenport Memorial Park. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf, Iowa is assisting with his arrangements.
He was born on July 19, 1934 in Davenport, the son of Leonard and Agnes (Smith) Wendt.
Howard served in the Army Reserves and later was called to active duty in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Howard was one of the first in Davenport to be certified in H. V. A.C. (heating, ventilating, and air conditioning). He worked for years as head of maintenance at the First National Bank in Davenport and Ruhl and Ruhl commercial properties where he oversaw maintenance and many buildings downtown. He also worked for landmark properties in Davenport.
Howard had many friends and will be missed by his coffee club family very much and his good friends at Aspire Nursing Home who were by his side in the end.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mildred.
