Imogene Shelton Silvis, 87, a former resident of Buffalo, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, April 10, 2023 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Buffalo, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the family.
She was born on January 5, 1936 in Drury, Missouri, the daughter of William Roosevelt and Fila (Hicks) Shelton.
In August of 1951, she married Donald Ray Coonts and two daughters were born, Joy Ann and Judy Lynn.
On December 27, 1963, she married Donald James “Shorty” Silvis and was blessed with another little girl, Donna Jean.
She worked at odd jobs including a dog kennel and the Sisters of Assumption.
Those left to honor her memory include her three daughters, Joy Ann (Bob) Firrell of Blue Grass, Iowa, Judy Lynn Staats of West Liberty, Iowa and Donna Jean Silvis of Bettendorf; her grandchildren, Darcy McNeer, Devonna Stender, Robert Firrell, Damion Sadd and Daniel Belleau and six great-grandchildren.
Imogene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, her sisters, Lois Dobbs, Doris Massey and Reba Eis, a special cousin, Eugene Hicks, and her beloved “grand-puppy,” Gidget.
She loved working outside, taking care of her flowers and mowing the yard.
