Janet Marie Schroeder

Graveside services for Janet Marie Schroeder, 92, of Bettendorf, will be 11:30 am on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Those who wish to attend will meet at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Wednesday. There will be no visitation.

Janet passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.

Janet Marie Hartz was born on July 21, 1933, in Davenport, IA, the daughter of Norman and Gertrude (Simon) Hartz. She married Wilbur C. Schroeder in 1952 in Davenport. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1987. Janet worked as a switchboard operator for St. Luke’s Hospital for 40 years. She enjoyed painting, drawing, crafting and traveling.

Survivors include her sons, Chris Schroeder of Bolingbrook, IL, Douglas Schroeder of Bettendorf, IA, Dennis (Julie) Schroeder of Evergreen, CO. seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, a sister, Mary Harmsen of Bettendorf, IA, and brother, Richard (Judy) Hartz of Davenport, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and nephew, Jeff Hartz.

Memorials may be directed to Wounded Warrier Project or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
