Jerry Marten, a resident of Walcott, Iowa was born on January 4, 1939 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Normand & Gladys (Goettsch) Marten. On September 5, 1959, he was united in marriage to Carol Nissen.
Jerry & Carol moved to the family farm north of Maysville, Iowa in 1966 where he enjoyed farming and raising livestock. He also worked for several John Deere dealerships in Eldridge as a tractor mechanic.
In recent years he enjoyed working part-time for A & J Feed Store in Eldridge. Jerry was a member & past-president of the Donahue Sportsmen’s club and a board member of the North Scott Athletic Boosters.
On Tuesday, July 5, 2011 he suffered a brain aneurysm and passed away at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at the age of 72 years, 6 months & 15 days.
Jerry’s loving family include his beloved wife of 51 years, Carol; his daughters, Cyndi (Don) Petersen of Ankeny, Iowa, Cathy (Enrique) Diaz of Eldridge and Lisa (Marc) McCubbin of Clive, Iowa; his son, Doug (Julie) Marten of West Valley, Utah; his grandchildren, Lucas (Molly) Bell, Lance (Ashlee) Bell, Ryan (Sheri) Petersen, Carla (Jess) Richey, Lindsay (Eric) Jess, Reid Petersen, Jami McCubbin (fiancé, Jeff Daniel), Alex Diaz & Alina Diaz; his great-grandchildren, Leslie & Logan Bell and Kaisa Richey; his sister, Janice Kroeger of Eldridge; and many other relatives and wonderful friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his sister, Jean King; and by his parents.
