Jessie P. Morris

Jessie P. Morris, 86, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2025 at MercyOne Genesis in Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 6, 2025 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family.

Jessie was born November 30, 1938 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Herbert & Chrystal (Lowry) Thorndyke. She was united in marriage to Larry Morris, Sr. on March 14, 1959 in Davenport.She had been employed with the Hy-Vee bakery in Bettendorf for fifteen years. Jessie enjoyed cooking, dancing, camping and attending the casinos. Jessie enjoyed spending Christmastime with her family and especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed the company of her friends.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband of sixty-six years, Larry; her daughters, Connie Miller of DeWitt, Iowa, Debbie Morris of Bettendorf & Vickey (Leo) Quinn of Waterloo, Iowa; her son, Larry Morris II of Bettendorf; her grandchildren, Darren Welch, Jake Miller, Larry Morris III, Angela Winter, Ashley Morris, Alex Quinn & Noah Quinn; her great-grandchildren, Adrian, Miles & Jeremiah; and her sister, Myra Halsey of Riverdale, Iowa.

Jessie was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Patricia Adams and Chrystal Sultan; and her brothers, Elmer, John, Herbert, Bill, Richard, Orval, Walter, James and Kenneth Thorndyke.
