A kind, caring, loving husband, brother, uncle and friend has left us. Jim Kron, 77, of Moline, Illinois passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at Silvis Center in Silvis, Illinois.
Jim was born on June 27, 1948 to Glen and Gerry Kron. He graduated from Moline High School in 1966 and then from NIU in DeKalb, Illinois. He was a hydraulics sales engineer for many years, retiring from Bosch Rexroth Global.
On December 16, 1978, Jim married his best friend, Becky Piff. The two of them enjoyed traveling over the years, spending time at their home in Door County, Wisconsin and spending time with family and friends. They really enjoyed each other’s company. One thing Jim really excelled in was talking!!! He had a gift of gab and thoroughly enjoyed regaling his stories to anyone who would listen!
Visitation will be Friday, December 5, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf, Iowa.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 6, 2025 at the funeral home, followed by a luncheon at Salem Lutheran Church in Moline and then interment at Moline Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Gilda’s Club of the Quad-Cities or the Rock Island County Animal Care and Control Center in Moline.
Those left to honor his memory include his beloved bride, Becky; his sister, Nancy (Neal) Lohuis of Vero Beach, Florida; his brothers, Mark Kron of Palm Bay, Florida and Jay Kron of Moline; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue Froeschle of Rock Island, Illinois, Debb (Wayne) Thompson of Rock Island and Mel (Sara) Piff of Moline; and a plethora of wonderful nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his niece, Ashley Kron; his parents-in-law, Mel and June Piff; and his great-niece, Mackenzie Olivia Hall.
Becky would like to thank the nurses on the Med Surg floor at MercyOne Silvis and the nurses at the infusion center at MercyOne Silvis, for all their compassionate care of Jim. She also wants to thank Julie Van Winkle and all the staff at Silvis Center for their compassionate care during Jim’s stay.
But most of all, Becky would like to thank Dr. Michael Porubcin, Jim’s oncologist for 25 years, for his persistent loving care. Jim would not have made it this far without such a caring doctor, whom Jim considered a friend.
