Joan Marie Langan, 88, of Bettendorf, Iowa, and formerly of LeClaire, entered her heavenly home on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the Fountains Senior Living Center, where she had lived surrounded by care and kindness in recent years.
A celebration of Joan’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 22nd, at Coram Deo Bible Church, 3800 E. 53rd St. in Davenport. The family will greet friends on Thursday, August 21st, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf, and again on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church. Joan will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran School of Davenport or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, two causes close to her heart.
Joan was born in Belvidere, Illinois, on December 10, 1936, to Eric and Marie (Krause) Eicksteadt. On March 20, 1954, she married the love of her life, Donald E. Langan, in Huntley, Illinois. Together they built a family grounded in faith, love, and joy that carried them through their 58 years together until Don’s passing in 2012.
A woman of deep faith, Joan was devoted to prayer and ministry throughout her life. She was active in the Davenport Christian Women’s Club, led countless Bible studies, and never missed an opportunity to encourage others with God’s word. Her greatest blessing, however, was the time she shared with her family. Whether gathered around a table for a meal, scrapbooking cherished memories, or crafting, Joan’s feisty spirit and warm smile made every moment a treasure.
She is survived by her children: Debbie (Scott) Larsen of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Coleen (Don) Keller of Bettendorf, Michael (Sandy) Langan of Eatonton, Georgia, Patrick Langan of Davenport, and Shawn (Janelle) Langan of Bettendorf; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and a circle of dear friends who will miss her kindness and faith-filled presence.
Welcoming her into heaven are her husband, Don; her parents; her granddaughter, Katie Langan; her grandson, Garrett Larsen; and her brothers, Jim and Richard Eicksteadt.
Joan’s family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of the Fountains Senior Living Center and St. Croix Hospice for the compassion and love shown to her in her final years.
