John Oscar Liske

John O. Liske, 79, of Bettendorf, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at his home in Bettendorf, IA.

There will be a celebration of his life at the Circle Tap on Sunday March 15, 2026, at 3:00 pm.

McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

John was born on September 5, 1946, in Rock Island, IL the son of Oscar and Amelia (Schaecher) Liske. He married Patricia J. Beck on May 30,1974, in East Moline, IL. She preceded him in death on January 24, 2023. He attended Augustana College where he earned a degree in business.

John was an avid football referee for high school and college football. He worked as a salesman for American Tabacco for 19 years and as a driver for Kitchen Cook for 10 years, retiring in 2012.

Survivors include his daughter, Stacy Liske and his step-son Matt Ware, both of Bettendorf, his grandchildren, Aiden Summers, Anna Shiltz and Landen Ware, sisters, Donna Fest, Betty Hoogerwerf, Kathy O’Brien, Patti Gibbs and Mary Ann Caveye, all of AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia, sisters, Jackie Waugh, Joan Stone and a brother, Jerry Liske.

Memorials may be directed to the Scott County Humane Society.
