John C. Moffit, Jr.

John C. Moffit, Jr. 75, of Coal Valley, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 3, 2023 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf, Iowa.  Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.  Private committal services will be held at Glendale Cemetery in LeClaire, Iowa.  Memorials may be made to the Coal Valley Village Fire Department.
John was born February 14, 1948 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of John C. & Laura S. (Dodds) Moffit.  He was a 1966 graduate of North Scott High School in Eldridge, Iowa where he excelled in basketball, football and track.  
John was a florist, having owned a floral shop in Clinton, Iowa for several years.  He travelled extensively all over the world for several years and most recently was employed with the TSA at the Quad-City International Airport. 
He enjoyed his earlier years in 4-H and following sports of all kinds.  He also loved the company of his dogs, Bosley and Chopper.
Those left to honor John’s memory include his siblings, Eileen Dexter of Eldridge, Sandy Arp of Durango, Iowa, Jean (Glen) Keppy of Eldridge and Tom (Nancee) Moffit of LeClaire, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers-in-law, Andrew Dexter and DuWayne Arp.
