John N. Sherrick, 74, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Unity Point Trinity in Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday at the church. Private family committal services will be at Davenport Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church or to the Mayo Clinic. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
John was born in Quincy, Illinois on November 14, 1948, the son of Neal and Anita (White) Sherrick and was a U.S. Army veteran. On May 19, 1973, he was united in marriage to Brenda Holly Woodham in Beaufort, South Carolina.
John was a Certified Public Accountant and managing partner of Sitrick & Associates of Bettendorf. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Knox College and a master’s degree in accounting from The University of Iowa. Beginning his public practice in 1971, John has been a partner with Sitrick & Associates since 1975. He was active in a number of civic and professional organizations including the Bettendorf Rotary Club, the Bettendorf Chamber of Commerce where he served as Chairman in 1995 and the Bettendorf Development Corporation where he served as president in 1998. John served for 27 years as a discussion leader through Surgent McCoy DPE, LLC for tax accounting education courses for CPA’s throughout the United States and has enjoyed presenting seminars in all 50 of the United States. He received the James L. McCoy Discussion Leader of the Year award for 2011-2012. In 2013, he received the Discussion Leader of the Year for the North Carolina Association of CPA’s. In 2017 and 2018, John was named the Surgent Outstanding Discussion Leader of the Year.
He was a tireless volunteer in church, community and civic endeavors and was always ready to lend a hand wherever and whenever he could.
John was a devoted member of Asbury United Methodist Church where he participated in many activities including an avid interest in Bible study. In addition, he devoted much time and energy to Boy Scout Troop 24 in Bettendorf.
Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife, Brenda; his children, Brian (Kelly Love) Sherrick of Bettendorf and Andrea (Brad) Beiseker of Fargo, North Dakota; his grandchildren, Grant Sherrick, Ella Sherrick, Sophie Sherrick, Noah Beiseker and Hannah Beiseker; his sister, Sandra Schuldt of Iowa City, Iowa; two nieces; two nieces-in-law and a nephew.
John was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Nash; his brothers-in-law, Bill Nash and Rev. David Schuldt; a nephew, Brad Nash and his parents.
