Jose F. Martinez-Soto

Jose F. Martinez-Soto, 92, of Davenport, died Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at Fejervary Health Care Center, Davenport.
Funeral Services and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 16, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Moline, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, with a rosary recited at 4:00 P.M. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to the family.
Jose was born January 23, 1916 in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico, the son of Gerardo & Luz (Soto) Martinez. He was united in marriage to Guadalupe Huizar on February 8, 1941 in Bettendorf. Jose had been employed as a carpenter throughout his life. He also had enjoyed gardening in his spare time.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Guadalupe; his daughters, Raquel (Manuel) Bojorquez, of Hillsdale, Illinois, Rebecca (Lorenzo) Martinez, of Davenport, and Antionia (Henry) Godinez, of Lakeland, Florida; his sons, Francisco (Juana) Huizar, of Rock Island, Illinois, and Gerardo (Julia) Huizar, of Davenport; 29 grandchildren; and 56 great-grandchildren.
Jose was preceded in death by his parents; several brothers and sisters; and his son, Gonzalo.
