Judy D. Whipple, 72, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf where she was a member. Inurnment will follow at the Rock Island National Cemetery. The family will greet friends in the gathering space at the church from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clarissa Cook Hospice House or King’s Harvest Pet Rescue No Kill Shelter. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
Judy was born in Davenport, Iowa on March 26, 1953, the daughter of Frank and Dorothy (Rea) Otero. On August 14, 1971, she was united in marriage to Frank T. Whipple in Pleasant Valley, Iowa.
She was a devoted wife, mom and grandma who loved caring for her home and family. In her spare time, she enjoyed camping, traveling with her family and spending time with her grandkids. Her faith and church were an important part of her life and she volunteered many hours helping with the funeral luncheons at Our Lady of Lourdes.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Frank; her daughters, Tricia (Mike) Despeghel of Bettendorf and Kari (Roger) Bergert of Bettendorf; her sons, Frank (Stacy) Whipple of Bettendorf and Matthew (Laurel) Whipple of Commerce City, Colorado; her grandchildren, Alex, Cameron, Katelyn, Mason, Lily, Frank, Jacob, Ben, Grace and Riley; her great-grandson, Clarke; her sisters, Sherry Myers and Ruth Smith; and her brothers, Larry (Sue) Otero and Bennie Otero.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Danny Otero; her granddaughter, Hannah Whipple and her aunt, Margaret Barth.
