Larry D. McBride, 82, of Donahue, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in La Grange, Illinois. Per his wishes, there will be no services and cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Chambers Funeral Home of Eldridge, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.

Larry was born September 20, 1943 in Davenport, the son of Leslie & Sophronia (Slaby) McBride. He was united in marriage to Suzanne “Sue” Voelkers on October 28, 1967 in Eldridge. She preceded him in death on February 11, 2020.

Larry retired after almost forty years of service with UPS. He enjoyed hunting on his acreage for many years.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughter and son-in-law, Kim Claeys-Hemphill and Mark Hemphill of Delmar, Iowa; his son, Patrick McBride of Donahue; his grandchildren, Ryan Claeys, Allison (Cody) Caron, Brandon (Amber) McBride, Kathy (Ben) Regnier, David Hemphill, Mark Alan (Kayla) Hemphill, Heather (Cyrus) Anderson, Dustin Stahl and Brian Stillman; and his great-grandchildren, Lincoln Regnier, Asher Regnier, Gabriel Regnier, Maverick Claeys, McKenna Claeys, Phoebe Jo Caron and Chloe McBride.

In addition to his wife, Sue, Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Jerry & John McBride.
