Lewis W. “Uncle Lew” Wells, 86, of Bettendorf, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at Trinity Unity Point Hospital, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to a no-kill animal shelter of the donor’s choice.
Lew was born on September 16, 1939 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Henry and Viola (Leighton) Wells. On June 20, 1967, he married Mary E. Ramm in Geneseo, Illinois. Lew worked as a self-employed upholsterer for 60 years. He was also an avid outdoorsman.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Mary Wells; daughters, Terrie Williams and Carrie (Joe) Williams; grandchildren, Nicole Tripp, Shea (Josh) Bridges, and Brandon Morris; great-grandchildren, Jaelynn, Morgan, McKinsey, Mason, and McCoy; brother, Roger Wells; brothers-in-law, Lee Goossen, John (Kathy) Ramm, and Frank Ratzlaff; sisters-in-law, Shirley Conklin and Billie Daughenbaugh; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Todd Wells; son-in-law, Brian Williams; siblings, Lorene (Ralph), Verna (Don), Ruth, Dorothy (Don), Doris, and Carol; sister-in-law, Betty Ratzlaff; and brother-in-law, Jerry Daughenbaugh.
