Lillian Marie Phillips, 73, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Harmony Utica Ridge in Davenport, Iowa.

Lillian’s wish was to be cremated and there will be no services at this time. Memorials may be made to the Scott Community College Scholarship Fund. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.

She was born in Davenport on May 9, 1952, the daughter of Ottis Leroy and Dorothy Marie (McDaniel) Wristen.

Lillian was a graduate of Scott Community College, St. Ambrose University and Iowa State University where she earned her Master’s degree.

For many years, she taught sociology and psychology at Scott Community College and was the coordinator of the Behavioral Science Department.

Those left to honor her memory include her sister, Gladys Swearengen; her brothers, James Wristen and Kenneth Wristen; her nieces and nephews, Charles (Michele Hotwick) Swearengen, James (Betsy) Swearengen, Jacqueline Wristen, Annie Wristen and Nicky; and her great-nieces and nephews, Brittany, Jacob, Ashley and Sarah.

Lillian was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Wristen; her sister-in-law, Chris Wristen; and by her parents.
