Linda R. Wilmes, 86, of Le Claire, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at MercyOne Genesis in Davenport, Iowa.

Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Monday, July 27, 2026 at Glendale Cemetery in Le Claire. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Scott County.

Linda was born September 11, 1939 in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Ralph & Ruth (O’Neal) Meeker. She was united in marriage to David L. Wilmes on December 16, 1961 in Bettendorf. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2003. 

Linda had retired from the Davenport School District where she was secretary for several years. She had also been a teacher’s aide with the Pleasant Valley School District. She taught Sunday school for many years and enjoyed quilting in her spare time.

Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Warren Wilmes of Le Claire and Wayne Wilmes of Davenport.

In addition to her husband, David, Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Bowers.
