Lois Schunter

Lois M. Schunter, 86, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 19, 2003 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Davenport where she was a loyal member. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to the church.
She was born June 11, 1917 in Bettendorf, the daughter of Erwin & Mathilda Schroder. On August 7, 1948, she married Frank Jacob Schunter in Davenport. He preceded her in death on April 25, 1972.
Lois was a registered nurse and a graduate of the University of Iowa School of Nursing. She was employed at the former St. Lukes’s Hospital in Davenport for many years, retiring in 1986.
She was a former member of the church choir and participated in a number of other church activities.
Among the things she enjoyed were cooking, gardening, knitting & crochet. Some of her most enjoyable memories were those times spent in the southwestern United States.
Those left to honor her memory include her son & daughter-in-law, Robert & Sue Schunter of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her granddaughter, Erin Beth Schunter of Chicago, Illinois; her grandson & granddaughter-in-law, Jason Frank & Rocio Schunter of Cedar Rapids; her great-grandson, Jalen Roberto Schunter; and her brother & sister-in-law, Wilbur & Fran Schroder of Phoenix, Arizona.
