Lulubelle "Lu" Daily Foss, age 86, went home to her heavenly Father on January 20, 2026. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Lu was born on February 6, 1939, in Davenport, Iowa, to Thomas C. Daily Jr. and Julia Belle (Washam) Daily. She graduated from Davenport High School (now Central High School) and earned her teaching degree from Iowa Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa).

Lu devoted her career to education, teaching elementary school in LeClaire and Davenport. She taught at Hayes Elementary and Smart Middle School but spent the majority of her career teaching third grade at Fillmore School. Lu was known for fostering not only academic growth but also creativity in her students. Her dedication to teaching was recognized when she was nominated for and awarded the Golden Apple Award, honoring exceptional teachers in the state of Iowa. In 1988, she earned her master's degree—an accomplishment she worked hard for and deeply cherished.

Lu was active in the Prince of Peace Women's Auxiliary. In 2000, Lu and Arnold joined Park View Lutheran Church. There, she continued her lifelong service by singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school and summer Bible school, and participating in the women's group.

Lu is survived by her daughters, Julia Beth Varner of Davenport and Karalyn Sue (Robert) Granvin of Burnsville, Minnesota; her beloved sister, Reverend Sandra Orsen Daily of Park View; her grandchildren Kyle Hendren, Amalea (Morgan) Dowell-Hendren, Christopher (Torey) Cuellar, Timothy Foss, Laura (Brandon) Flack, and Collin Foss; ten great-grandchildren; Annika, Madison, Beatrix, Ronin, Alton, Syris, Wes, Briar, Callan, and Reece; and one great-great-grandson Hendrick, whom she affectionately called "Henry".

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Arnold D. Foss; her parents, Thomas and Julia Daily; and her cherished daughter, Kirstin Anne Foss-Cuellar.
