Obituary

A celebration of life service for Lynn Chamberlain, 79, of Bettendorf, will be Thursday, April 9th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at St. James Lutheran Church, Bettendorf, IA. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Lynn passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis, Silvis, IL.

Lynn was born on May 1, 1946, in Detroit, MI, the son of Harold and Fran (Fellows) Chamberlain. He married Sherry Germanio in Palisades Park, IA on January 19, 1974. He served in the U.S. Army from 1967-1969, during the Vietnam Era. He attended Mt Mercy College and then earned a master’s degree from Minnesota State University.

Lynn taught Sociology, Psychology and Anthropology for 33 years at Eastern Iowa Community College, and at the Scott and Clinton campuses. He also taught at Marycrest College in Iowa and also taught in South Dakota, Minnesota and Alaska. He retired after 43 years of teaching on May 15, 2009.

Lynn enjoyed Native American Cultures and artifacts, meeting and helping people and animals, photography, finding bargains, a good joke, and Sherry’s manicotti. Most of all he loved his family, friends, pets and teaching.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry of Bettendorf, daughter, Cara (Russ Kelly) Chamberlain, son, Jason Snider, brother, Gary (Pat) Chamberlain, sisters-in-laws, Sondra Cummings, Susan Germanio, nephews, John (Rosemary) Cummings, Mike Chamberlain, Kyle (Mary Marylana) Chamberlain and family. nieces, Megan Chamberlain, Emily (Robb) Deisroth, and family and several “fur” babies.

Lynn, a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, son, friend and fun-loving person will be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Joe Cummings.

Memorials may be directed to the family for the creation of a scholarship for college students in his name. Also animal aid Humane Society, Moline, or Red Cloud Indian School, Pine Ridge, SD.
